What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural state of heightened awareness.
Hypnosis is usually thought of as being a natural state of heightened awareness.
Often in this state there is focused attention and often there is deep relaxation.
Hypnosis is also described as a sleep-like state usually induced by another person called a hypnotist. In this heightened state of deep relaxation and awareness, the hypnotized subject is susceptible to heightened suggestibility.
In this heightened state of suggestibility, one can be in touch with his source of creativity, can explore sources of his inhibitions and can be reprogrammed with new patterns for transformations. After training with a hypnotist, subjects can be taught to hypnotize themselves to effect these transformations.

Self Hypnosis
Self hypnosis refers to the hypnotizing of oneself.
It is a contrast to hypnosis performed on a subject facilitated through
a hypnotist, i.e., one person hypnotizing another. In many cases hypnotists
have their subjects learn and use self-hypnosis as part of their practice.
Hypnosis is a state of the mind which has been experienced, at one time or another, by everyone. The ability and methods for achieving hypnosis are already within us. It is simply a question of finding the right processing steps for doing this. This is a reason for involving a hypnotist; these facilitators are skilled at taking us there and are skilled at teaching subjects how to perform this themselves. The foregoing is the basis for the assumption that all hypnosis is self- hypnosis.
